FLEXIBILITY OVERALL

These policies are designed to hold all parties accountable and to ensure that everyone's time is respected. However, all of my policies are subject to extenuating circumstances. My goal is to find a balance between a professional relationship and that of a family friend! These policies are the result of years of input from students and parents. If you have any questions or concerns, I'm happy to have a discussion. Please, refer to my contact information at the bottom of this page.

AD HOC V. RECURRING TUTORING SESSIONS

  • If you book a recurring time slot(s), your student is guaranteed that slot year-round, except for extenuating circumstances on my end and the occasional vacation!

  • Students with recurring time slots are also given priority in terms of accommodations (e.g., if you need: a last-minute extra session; an extra hour earlier or later the day of your session; me to help edit a bibliography or paper by some deadline; a reference or letter of recommendation; me to plan out a schedule to teach you an entire course over the summer while preparing you for the ACT, etc.).

  • While I’ve found that recurring weekly or weekly tutoring yields significantly better results, I understand that some students and families have schedules or needs that do not permit a recurring time slot (e.g., biweekly, ad hoc).

  • All of my policies are the same for ad hoc tutoring except for the expectation to meet again at some fixed time.

FLEXIBLE RATES IF PRICING IS PROHIBITIVE

  • I charge $55 for an hour-long session or $45 for a 45-minute session. While students do not need to stay for the entire allotted time, I will charge for the predetermined length of the session.

  • Also, please refer to the home page for discounts on multiple-student sessions and deals on referrals!

  • If my prices are prohibitive, I’m always happy to discuss lowering my rates on a needs basis.

RECURRING TIME SLOTS: ZOOM & GOOGLE CALENDAR

  • I use Google Meet because it's simple and reliable. Zoom also works well with Google Calendar (which makes scheduling simple) and offers screen-sharing (which I can pair with my drawing pad to quickly create diagrams in real-time, either on a whiteboard or on a student's shared screen).

  • Students will be able to access meeting links on their Google Calendars.

  • I typically book in one-hour or 45-minute time slots. After the free consultation, I will suggest a time based on the student's age, subject(s) covered, and other factors.

  • If you are unsure when your time slot is (re)scheduled for or if a session has been canceled, please, remember that I will always defer to Google Calendar (i.e., whatever time you see on your Google Calendar is when I expect the session to be).

  • When booking a slot, try to factor in around 5 minutes of wiggle room on either end in case a student needs extra time or if there's a connectivity issue. Though I'll ask students and parents this while scheduling a time slot, it isn't mandatory.

OVERTIME: POLICY & RATES

  • I will extend the length of a session if there is no student immediately after or if the next student is willing.

  • Overtime is calculated at the same rate in 15-minute intervals (i.e., $13.75/15 minutes).

  • I add a 5-minute grace period to every session in case a student needs a few extra minutes at no charge. However, anything past 5 minutes incurs a 15-minute fee regardless of whether or not a student uses the full 15 minutes.

PAYMENT POLICY: DEADLINES AND ACCEPTED FORMS OF PAYMENT

  • Payment for a session is expected within 24 hours of a completed session.

  • Venmo is my only accepted payment platform. Payment should be sent via a Venmo request in the following format: Student Name, Subject (Discount Type if Applicable) - Time Spent. Please, notify me if you need assistance downloading this safe and secure app.

  • If a student meets with me multiple times in one day, I will send multiple Venmo requests. In that case, payment is expected within 24 hours of the last session that day.

  • Except for the circumstances in the previous bullet, I will not work with a student if a previous session hasn’t been paid for.

  • Discount types include the following: Reduced (if prices are prohibitive), Multiple-Student (see home page), and Referal (see home page).

CANCELATION POLICY

  • Tutoring sessions are always shared with students as Google Calendar events.

  • Though phone calls, emails, and texts are acceptable ways to make cancelations, declining a shared Google Calendar invite is preferred.

  • Canceling by text, email, or phone call before the 5-hour window preceding a student’s session incurs no fee.

  • While every student is entitled to 3 grace exemptions per year from this policy, cancelations made less than 5 hours in advance - a hard deadline - barring extenuating circumstances will incur a fee for the entire pre-determined session length.

  • This includes a text, email, or phone call within the 5-hour window or not showing up in the first 15 minutes without notifying me.

  • Regardless of whether or not I receive a text, email, or phone call, I will wait for the first 15 minutes of any scheduled session and call the student or parent during that time. If a student shows up within that 15-minute time window, I will continue the session, charge for the full predetermined time slot, and apply overtime as explained above.

RESCHEDULING POLICY

  • Rescheduling by text, email, or phone call before the 5-hour window preceding a student’s session incurs no fee.

  • Though phone calls, emails, and texts are acceptable ways to reschedule, requesting an alternate time on Google Calendar is preferred.

  • Sessions rescheduled within the 5-hour window incur a fee for half of the session.

  • Rescheduling does not mean meeting at the next regular time slot; it means scheduling a time to meet before then.
